FB Alpha 2016 Reference Set - Complete FBA v0.2.97.39 ROMs
NOTE 1: Please use the BitTorrent protocol to download this collection whenever possible, and try to upload/seed an equal amount as you download.
NOTE 2: Due to the way that archive.org handles file uploads, it is necessary to distribute this collection as a multi-part zip file. Decompress the collection by opening the first file in the multi-part archive: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.001. This requires software capable of managing multi-part zip archives, such as the open-source 7zip tool or many others.

ROM Set Format: Non-Merged
Using a Non-Merged set means that every .zip in this collection is a complete ROM that can be used stand-alone even if it is considered a "clone".
Typically clones feature a different language or updates to the game software. Some clones are "bootleg" versions of a ROM -- for example bootlegs that remove encryption that which makes the "parent" ROM unplayable. For these and other reasons, clones are sometimes the preferred version of a ROM.
"Merged" and "Split" sets save drive space by consolidating the parts of the clone game that are identical to its parent into a more sophisticated zip container. The only benefit is saved space. On the other hand, not all emulators support Merged and Split sets. Those set formats are also more challenging to use to manually copy individual ROMs for use with an emulator rather than using the whole set.
Non-Merged -- such as this set -- arranges all games, parents and clones, in their own stand-alone .zip files with all of the files needed to run the game. The cover image for this collection is based on an image by Sam Howzit, licensed for reuse under a Creative Commons License. Subject: great set, wrote a script to flip screen
hope this helps many. gracias.
Subject: great work
Subject: Half of these games have crackly sound in retroarch
Subject: Excellent collection
Not sure why other reviews saying this didn't unzip properly, it works perfectly with 7zip. I'd like to see a full file listing though, because I deleted the "Samples" folder it extracted and now wondering if this were the audio files some games need.
Subject: Thank you!
Subject: Please reupload as a single zip

Subject: Archive issues solution
If you're on a Mac/Linux you can run the following from the terminal in the director of the zip files;
for i in `seq 1 7`; do cat FB\ Alpha\ v0.2.97.39\ Non-Merged.zip.00$i>>uncut-version.zip; done
That will merge all the zip files into a single 'uncut-version.zip'. Unzip that file and then you will have everything. Hopes this save you some time.
Subject: Zip file 7 error
Subject: sha1sums not matching
Thanks for your hard work. Could you take another look at the 3rd and 4th zip files? When unzipping, I get this message in the terminal:
extracting: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.003 bad CRC ac231f7c (should be 728b2b21)
extracting: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.004 bad CRC bee11af0 (should be 1e6494c3)
I also did a sha1sum on those files; they don't match what the checksum specified:
832ce57056206b549e5be5fc12e24628d822a18c FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.003

Subject: BAD MD5 Checksum on 007.RAR
I download the last RAR, part #007, from BOTH the torrent and directly from Archive.org. It's MD5 checksum is bad - and my unzipping program also reports this file as bad.

Actual MD5 checksum comes back as d300896045572dc6996aa0d194791242
